Are OSRS clients safe?

Wondering if RuneLite is safe to use? Short answer - yes. The whole Old School Runescape community trusts this client and Jagex allows people to use it.

Wondering if RuneLite is safe to use? Short answer - yes. The whole Old School Runescape community trusts this client and Jagex allows people to use it.

If you have ever watched an Old School Runescape video on youtube you probably noticed all of the different things going on in the game client. These things include xp trackers, menu entry swapping, hiscores, timers, clue helpers, boss helpers and thousand more features. Yes, these features are amazing, but are the clients that offer these features safe?

The answer is yes, but it depends on the client. The safest client will always be the official Old School Runescape client, however, it doesn’t have any features. The most popular client with best features is RuneLite. It is an open source client, meaning that anyone can view the code. For that reason you can be sure that the client is safe, because if it wasn’t, people would notice.OSRS RuneLite client is deemed safe by Jagex

What is the best Osrs client?

The best OSRS client is RuneLite. It has plenty features that will help you enjoy the game even more and track your progress. If you want to read more about other good OSRS clients be sure to read this article.

Does Jagex allow RuneLite?

When RuneLite first came to the scene Jagex wanted to discourage people from using it, they even considered suing the company, however, due to large support from the community they let the client be. There is a conspiracy theory that Jagexed used to take a cut of OSBuddy profits and after RuneLite came to be, the profits dropped, as RuneLite was free and OSBuddy wasn’t. Although these are just rumors, many people believe it.

Is RuneLite better than OSBuddy?

RuneLite is better than OSBuddy, because all of the features RuneLite offers are free. OSBuddy was created by a former Runescape Bot developer and OSBuddy client isn’t open source, for these reason people tend to stick with RuneLite.

February 28th Old School RuneScape Drama

Spring is coming and later summer and even though the Sun is still rising quite low on the horizon in the northern hemisphere, it got hot. February 28th has a good chance to be marked as the hottest day of the year, at least on Gielinor. Care to know why? Check out this blog post!

February 28th Old School RuneScape Drama

Good whatever the time of day you’re reading this at! Recently there was major commotion in OSRS community and there are tons of memes already made about it. The only thing we’re waiting now for OSRS wiki to update it’s “rollback” page. If you already know what we’re talking about, make sure you check out our RuneScape gold stack and for those who haven’t heard the news or are looking at this in 2030 as a part of research for their thesis on “RuneScape Crashes and Their Effects on Human Psyche”, please stay with us to learn more.

Chambers of Xeric

Chambers of Xeric received yet another update. This time woodcutters are getting a treat in the form of additional wood gained from trees in the Ice Demon Room. Don’t be overjoyed, though, since the XP rate is also reduced, albeit only slightly. However, the main focus is on the Ice Demon itself, whose defenses were reduced. This is one of the many updates for Chambers of Xeric and this is actually the last one. You can check out our previous blog post on this topic to look at the changes already made. For more specific details on Ice Demon Room don’t hesitate to visit official update blog.

The Twisted Bow Bug

Those of you who have logged in during the last day of winter probably already know this. For those who haven’t: there was a serious game breaking bug in the game just after the February 28th update was released. Game breaking not in terms of breaking the game itself, game breaking in terms of economy and making anyone who have claimed the one and only Twisted Bow fair and square a little less proud of their achievement. Well, probably a lot less proud, but that was just for a short period of time. The bug itself was that Twisted Bows started spawning near the Farming guild in Kebos Lowlands. Anyone with access to the area could just walk up to it and take it. This is one of many bugs involving item spawns and one of the few that required a rollback. In case you don’t know what a rollback is it’s basically rolling back the game time to the nearest safe save, meaning everything you’ve done during the period from that save point to reset point is lost. Jagex team did a really good job tackling this issue: they reacted fast, came up with a solution fast and they were also fast to rollback the game. The process initially was stated to last 4-6 hours, however they got it done in less than a couple of hours, which must have been really good news for those OSRS addicts out there. Rollbacks are usually the last resort for Jagex, but the last time a rollback option was used was actually not so long ago. If you’re interested check our blog post  about it as well.

Jagex teaching life lessons – today’s topic: inflation

Hardcore ironmen were put into a unique position due to the rollback. Those who were unfortunate enough to die to a chicken or another evil creature lost their hardcore status, but just on paper. By paper we mean the ranking system. That’s because JMods have rerolled their hardcore status in game, but the rankings are registered separately and these hardcore ironmen now compete with casual ironmen on the same ladder. We’ll be looking forward to what this unique status of theirs does to the OSRS black market, because people are always after some unique accounts.

That’s it for today, folks. For those who are reading this after the fact: be glad that you didn’t pick a Twisted Bow. Really. People who have, were banned, with their bans now being reverted to temporary bans, but still, it can be a significant inconvenience.

Three Features Removed from Old School RuneScape

Old School RuneScape saw a ton of new features added into the game since it's launch: from various quests to such huge content updates as Raids. But this is not always the case - sometimes features actually get removed from the game, instead of being added. This time we're going to take a look at some of them.

Old School RuneScape saw a ton of new features added into the game since it's launch: from various quests to such huge content updates as Raids. But this is not always the case - sometimes features actually get removed from the game, instead of being added. This time we're going to take a look at some of them.

Three Features Removed from Old School RuneScape

Greetings, fellow scapers. Today’s blog post will be somewhat different from the usual posts when we talk about something new, be it a money making method or a content update. Today we’re going to take a look at what was removed during the course of OSRS history (don’t worry, nobody removed all of your OSRS gold from your bank).

Random Events

Yes, we know random events have not been removed as a concept. However, there are events that have been removed, for example the Evil Ent, Exploding Rock, the Rock Golem, the Tree Spirit and many others. These events were dangerous, because they could actually do damage to the player or displace/remove their equipment. I am pretty sure I am speaking for all of us when I say that we are glad these were removed.

Random events that are currently in OSRS have been changed as well: now players can choose whether to dismiss them or take part in them. This usually translates to players dismissing all events but one – Genie (yours truly guilty of that as well).

The reason why these events are there in the first place is that they are directed against bots, hence why they are also called anti-macro events. They range in complexity and that was the intended purpose, to trick the bots into not solving various puzzles and then collecting that data and banning 100% confirmed bots. As you can imagine, it takes more than one such unsolved puzzle to determine that the account is an actual bot, since players do not necessarily solve those puzzles 100% of the time. This is another reason why they were made dismissable – sometimes players would not solve the puzzle not because they didn’t manage to, but simply because they were AFK. Keep in mind the dangerous events that existed and you have a perfect storm: bots eventually got smarter and managed to solve these interactions with variable reliability and all this feature hurt were genuine players who simply went AFK or were distracted. All of this is in the past now and we can only be thankful to game developers for recognizing the issue and listening to the community.

Your game - your choice

Your game – your choice

Trading Post

Trading post was a feature that was introduced around a year before the release of the Grand Exchange and got removed once the GE was built in northwestern Varrock. It functioned as an auction house and players could put almost any tradeable item into a trading post in order to sell it. Unlike in the GE, however, players could actually see the names of those selling their items. What’s most interesting about this feature is that you could actually access it via your bank, which was very convenient. Players had access to six item slots and could put an item up for trade for any price they wished. Item sets were also introduced with this feature, which saved a lot of space and still does, since this feature made it into the GE as well.

Sailing

Sailing started off as an April Fools joke, but later was seriously considered to be added into the game. A lot of features were already polished before it was put up on a poll only for players to vote against adding this feature into the game. Sailing was a skill available to free-to-play and was supposed to allow players to build boats and revivify the spirit of Age of Discovery. It was intended for players to build their boats and explore various islands, with higher sailing level supposedly providing better rewards. If it was approved, however, it would have been the first new skill added into OSRS, instead of Warding.

That’s it for today’s post, we hope you have learned something new about the game you love and how it was before you started playing or made you feel nostalgic in case you’re a seasoned veteran of Old School RuneScape. See you next time and we wish you encounter only Genies on your random events!

Why You Should Play Ironman – OSRS

Admit it, at least once you were bored or even fed up with RuneScape. This is only natural and you're not the only one it happend to. Some people went as far as to invent a new game mode: ironman! And in this blog post you will see why this game mode is worth trying out!

Admit it, at least once you were bored or even fed up with RuneScape. This is only natural and you're not the only one it happend to. Some people went as far as to invent a new game mode: ironman! And in this blog post you will see why this game mode is worth trying out!

Why You Should Play Ironman

Do you ever play RuneScape and feel a bit lost? Or you find yourself logging in for 10 minutes, doing some random stuff, maybe chopping a log or two and then logging off again, only to repeat the same process a day later? Maybe you log in and do something, but feel bored? Today we’re not going to offer you to some money-making method or a leveling guide. Instead we offer you to consider this: maybe you should play Ironman?

Why Ironman Mode Even Exists

Ironman mode is a challenging mode for players who wish to test their mettle. Or at least it’s mostly promoted as being such. There are separate highscores kept for each mode: ironman, hardcore ironman and ultimate ironman on Old School RuneScape as well as RuneScape 3. There are also tons of youtube content creators as well as twitch streamers who play only ironman or have dedicated a series for their ironman play. All this combined with the difficulty of ironman mode, with such restrictions as not being able to get help from other players, restriction on trading and PvP, or even penalty for dying for hardcore ironman and not being able to use the bank on top of that for ultimate ironman suggests that this is a highly competitive game mode only for seasoned veterans of the game. All in all, ironman mode is somewhat a step back to the long gone days of hardcore RPG’s and prior to the release of ironman mode, some players would put similar restrictions on themselves. And this may discourage some players who would like to give the mode a go from playing it: it might seem like there’s a lot of pressure put on you even before you make your account into one of the ironmen with the help of Juan on the Tutorial Island. However, this should not be the case. If you’re one of those adventurers who are here just for the fun of it and your own personal achievement, we have a couple points which might make you reconsider becoming an ironman.

Left to right: ironman, hardcore ironman and ultimate ironman in full armour about to do some heavy damage!

Left to right: ironman, hardcore ironman and ultimate ironman in full armour about to do some heavy damage!

Give Ironman Mode a Try

Remember those days when all you cared for is to explore Gielinor and slay a monster or two while doing it? Or running into NPC who has a quest for you? Back in the day we didn’t open wiki if we had a question: we would either ask friend for advice or figure it out ourselves. That especially applies for players who started in the early days of RuneScape, because no wiki even existed (hard to believe, I know) and due to our limited time on the internet or simply because the internet was waaaaay slower than it is today and a guide was not so easy to come by. Today we can find almost any information we need with a couple of clicks. And even without those couple clicks we know too much about the game already.

One of the main reasons behind popularity of single-player games is that they offer unique experience to players. You play at your own pace. One hour, two hours, twelve hours: no matter how much time you’re able to put into the game, you feel progress. There’s no internal voice nagging you about how far others will get while you’re not playing. Therefore, there’s no NEED to look up for any guides or info about the game, because you are in complete control. Well, unless you’re miserably stuck or the game crashes after you loot that one item from a slain enemy’s corpse and it so happens that that’s an item needed for main quest. Or kept jumping into a wall until finally you broke the game and entered the colorful void of textures. Now, you can say: “But I know about the game a lot, starting ironman account will not erase those memories.” Yes, it will not. But since on casual mode we often focus too much on efficiency, we skip parts of the game, because some jobs are done and materials gathered by newbies or bots or some guy trying to make tons of RuneScape gold. You will be surprised what big part of the game you’re actually missing.

In addition to being partially a single-player mode, ironman also offers parts of content you’d never encounter otherwise. Yes, I know that you saw ironmen playing together with regular folk and no, they do not get additional content, besides the armor, per se. Due to restrictions, ironmen are forced to progress through their adventure on the same world, but they sometimes walk on different paths. Both figuratively and literally. When was the last time you’ve gathered beads for Wizard Mizgog by actually killing the imps yourself instead of just buying them on the GE. Oh, I remember when my newbie account didn’t manage to kill them fast enough and they would teleport away. That was a bit annoying, but fun at the same time, because the sense of achievement was stronger once I finally turned in the quest. All it takes now is to mine copper ore for a few minutes or chop some logs, sell these resources at the GE and that’s it, you can buy the beads, teleport to Draynor village and you’re done. Playing ironman might be harder, but it helps to get away from repetitive tasks and makes you explore Gielinor once again: maybe it will not bring you that much joy you got when playing for the first time, but it will definitely freshen up those taste buds for adventure and you get a cool set of armour and bragging rights too!

One thing to remember when playing ironman is that doing that on free-to-play, although possible, is usually not recommended. Unless you’re trying things out, of course.

How to Spot a RuneScape Scam

Getting scammed is one of the worst experiences in an online game. Don't have your bank cleaned by some amateurish scammer! In this blog we're discussing a few scam methods and how to avoid them.

Getting scammed is one of the worst experiences in an online game. Don't have your bank cleaned by some amateurish scammer! In this blog we're discussing a few scam methods and how to avoid them.

How to Spot a RuneScape Scam

What online games brought to the table of gaming industry was people. In single-player games you are the main hero and all other characters are just NPC‘s, whose behavior is already programmed and depends on the creativity of the game’s developers. Those characters can all be very different, but this variety pales in comparison to the fauna you meet in online games. Just like in real life, people you meet there are very different from one another: some are very nice and talkative, some are nice, but less chatty, some are there only for the game and cooperate with other people only when there’s need for that. And, of course, some people in real life will cheat you for their personal gain. This, let’s call it a trait, combined with the anonymity of online games is a perfect niche for such folk to thrive. Today we’re going to look into such people, to be more precise: how to avoid being scammed by them.

Imposters

One of the most common form of scamming is impersonating someone else. The scammer will tell you that they’re someone else and will have some demands/requests. Usually they present themselves as Jagex mods or representatives, but they sometimes choose to impersonate someone else as well: your friends, some famous RuneScape content creator on youtube, other very well recognized players or, in some  cases, they pretend that they work for a gold site like EZRSGold and ask you to give your RuneScape gold to them. And let’s not get started on all the imposters on various communication channels, such as skype, discord, sythe or email. Whenever you have suspicion that there’s something sketchy, don’t hesitate to contact us via live chat. In other cases, always now that Jagex mods have a “Mod” title in front of their name and a crown icon and remember to always double-check the nickname of your friend or even ask them about what’s going on outside the game; double-check nicknames of youtubers and famous players as well: scammers usually create a very similar nickname with a slight variation and if you’re not careful enough, you might get tricked.

Now this type of scammers isn’t very subtle. They often plainly ask, or even tell, you to give them your gold or some valuable item. They give tons of excuses and reasons why you should or must do so and if you’re for some reason scared, that Jagex, for example is after you, you might be not thinking clearly and not paying enough attention to notice, that their demands are ridiculous and unjustified. Jagex will never ask to take gold or items: they will issue you a warning or outright ban you and all communication will go via their official channels. Remember: always pay attention, if you have any doubts, then do not give anyone anything!

Phishing attempts

How many times do we have to be told not to open any suspicious emails, sent by an unknown person? How many times?! This is one of the most popular forms of scam on the whole internet. Even government officials fall for that and this causes a lot of damage in form of leaked data and potential software/hardware repairs. Our RuneScape accounts are dear to us and we should take good care of them. One of the things to prevent your data getting into the wrong hands is to avoid opening any emails of unknown origin and following any suspicious links. Or else you will suffer like this person:

This is one of more popular scam methods, pay attention!

This is one of more popular scam methods, pay attention!

In this case, they do not seem to open an infected email. Instead, what they did is put their login information into a third-party site for some in-game gain. This is one of the oldest tricks in the book. The way it works is very simple: all the data you enter is sent to the owner of that site. I remember when I was a kid back in the day when internet wasn’t such a widespread phenomenon, a classmate told me about this script. It’s presented to the site’s visitor as an email form (and was intended to work this way): in the first field you enter your email or your nickname and in the second you put in your query. The first field was necessary for correspondence. Now what scammers did is that they simply changed the titles of those fields and tell you that once you enter your data you will get access to the game via their tool and you’ll be generating any wealth you want on your account. Anything, really. Want 100k XP? Check. Want 5b gold? Check. This is, of course, a very primitive scam tool, but I know people who fell for that. Currently it’s more sophisticated than that, but the principle is the same.

Fake Twitch Streamers

Oh boy is Twitch an amazing thing. And as with all such things, scammers can’t wait to find a way to abuse it. Quite a common practice these days is to set up a fake twitch account with a nickname closely resembling that of an actual popular streamer and here we go. Now, this method is basically phishing just in different clothing. However, since you would usually expect to receive a link in your email, you might get caught off-guard here. Here’s a very well designed visual guide of how all of this works:

A comprehensive instruction on how to spot a fake streamer

Secure Your Account

This one is a no brainer, yet still not everybody realizes that a password “password” does not make your account secure. Or “passwerd” for that matter. Okay, maybe we’ve got to the point where people are enough technologically savvy and don’t do this anymore. Still, how many different complex passwords can you remember? Ah, let’s just use that same password for my email and my RuneScape account as well. WRONG! First things first, your password should be more than 8 symbols long, because even relatively primitive programs can generate and guess it if it’s shorter. Indeed, it should not be a password, but instead a passphrase: a long line of text with numbers and special symbols in it, which is also different from the one you use for your email. First, such passphrases are close to unhackable, second: even if you get hacked, you will be able to recover your account through your email. All those precious hours put into killing virtual mother nature will not go to waste!

Always remember: keeping your account secure is your responsibility as well. Game developers have sophisticated protection measures, so you must do your part. And for those who never got hacked and cleaned – come cash out your RuneScape wealth and sell us your RuneScape gold for the best price! Unlike those pesky scammers, we’re fair traders here.

RuneScape: Best MMORPG Around

Not many MMORPG games and even games in general can boast the number of years they have under their belt. At this point RuneScape seems to be a timeless game, which will always have its player base. If you're interested why is it so, we have a few reasons to give you.

Not many MMORPG games and even games in general can boast the number of years they have under their belt. At this point RuneScape seems to be a timeless game, which will always have its player base. If you're interested why is it so, we have a few reasons to give you.

RuneScape: Best MMORPG Around

Now before you say that you already knew that, hold up. Yes, if you’re reading this it’s very likely that you are already hooked on RuneScape. But sometimes our own passions might get in the way when assessing a situation – after all, love is blind. That’s why we decided to take a closer look at the reasons why RuneScape and especially Old School RuneScape have stood the test of time, when so many had never even rose close to RuneScape when it was at its worst before they vanished into oblivion. Not to speak of RuneScape being around for ripe 17 years! In this blog post we’re going to cover a few pillar aspects of the game, which got us all addicted.

Originality

RuneScape was launched in January the 4th, 2001. Back in the day there already were some established titles of the MMORPG genre, but there weren’t so many games as there are today. Because of that, hearing about new game was really exciting. And those games usually were. The thing is, the small number of big MMORPG was somewhat bad, since your choices were limited, but on the other hand every game was unique. And, of course, RuneScape was no exception. Yes, it had and has that classic “do a quest, save the day, become a hero” trope which is an inseparable element of any role-playing game, it was original nevertheless. You can feel that you’re in a fantasy world with its own
mythology and its own laws of physics (when we’re talking about game mechanics). Of course it didn’t have the best graphics because of technology back in the day and the fact that it was an online game. But there was also no set path to walk. The problem with new MMORPG’s is that often they’re just slightly altered versions of one another. And if a new game with a new kind of mechanic launches (like action combat, for example), you can see a bunch of other new games sprout like weeds which can sometimes appear like plain differently titled copies. Back in the day there was no such thing. That, combined with easy access to the game is what made RuneScape such a huge hit.

Accessibility

No matter how good a game is, there’s no denying the fact that accessibility plays a huge role. RuneScape did well in this area as well: it can be played on any computer (and since the release of OSRS Mobile it can be played basically anywhere) and it also has a free-to-play option. These two factors worked shoulder to shoulder to muster up one of the biggest player bases. Free-to-play option especially. First, it’s always good to test the waters before diving in deeper. Many people are reluctant to try out a new game just because they’ll feel like they’ve wasted money if they didn’t like it in the end. Second, RuneScape’s free-to-play version is a head taller than probably any other version of f2p. Usually, when playing a game as f2p you’re basically playing a demo version of it. And most these demo versions end so quickly, you don’t even feel like you’ve played at all. Or in some cases leveling cap is so low you also don’t get the feel of the game. RuneScape, however, does not limit you to how much time you can spend playing it, be it couple of weeks, months or years. You are limited in your choices, yes, but you the level cap seems to be fair and there’s no time limit. None. Especially good for those underaged peeps whose parents don’t appreciate the benefits of video games. These are the reasons why you shouldn’t assume that no one but bots  are online in f2p worlds. In addition to that, once you choose to pay, there’s also no combination of “buy game + 1 month of game time”, which sometimes can also deter people from taking up the game, since this is usually costly and risky commitment if a game fails to entertain you. You buy membership one month, you don’t another. That simple.

Progression system

Progression system is also one of the things that should be appreciated, especially with so many other MMORPG’s around here. In RuneScape you are your own boss. Chop wood for three hours! Fish or cook for another three! Or stay in the Grand Exchange and sell your jokes for 1m RuneScape gold! Well, the last one will not get you far in terms of XP, but hey, that dent in your armor won’t fix itself and certainly not for free. You can mix questing with various money making methods, to PKing in the Wilderness then laying low for a while fletching some more arrows that you’ll shoot into mages’ knees on your next PKing rampage. Or kill bosses with your friends in a raid, then all of you get in an argument and instead of saying something you might regret later, have a chill farming session to cool off, maybe you’ll obtain a master farmer’s outfit while doing that too. Want a loyal pet to follow you? No problem! In other words, RuneScape does not force you into this epic narrative where you must do this, then that, step by step, to dethrone an evil demigod god-king lord of destruction with the power level of over 9000. You do your thing, you do quests and the story will unfold itself without forcing itself unto you or streamlining you into a certain pattern or patterns of leveling. Anything you choose to do is a good option.

These are the reasons why we think RuneScape has been around for so long and will probably be. RuneScape remains true to the MMORPG genre, where it is YOU who chooses your role in the world of Gielinor, it is YOU who decides what and when to do. And this feeling of freedom is what keeps us all interested in the game.

Advice for New RuneScape Players

Gielinor is so vast that you can easily get lost in it. And if you're short on time, you don't wish to get lost. In fact, you might want to be somewhat efficient. Here are three things to know when beginning to play Old School RuneScape or RuneScape 3. Only three, you ask? Only for now, we answer.

Advice for New RuneScape Players

Greetings, fellow adventurers! I see that you have stumbled upon this rather unique world, Gielinor. Yes, yes, I noticed the confusion in your face and before we move on I will calm you down: I felt the same once and I completely understand how you’re feeling at the moment. What is that? Oh, you have completed Tutorial Island, you say? Not to undermine your achievements, but you still have a very long way to go and much to learn. Of course, I know what those friendly folk there taught you. And it’s just a tiny fraction of what you need to know before continuing on this journey. Don’t look so upset, I told you I’ve been through the same as you did and believe you me when I say that I’ve made plenty of mistakes, some of them I’d rather not mention, since I’ve been laughed at already as it is and don’t need you getting a smug attitude and walk away without gaining any wisdom. Ah, yes, yes, you’re impatient one, forgive me for taking up all this important time of yours with my silly introduction. Here is what you need to know.

Get a Membership

Now, now, don’t frown so hard or your face will wrinkle in no time. Hear me out. If you’re a beginner, it’s all good to not purchase a membership. You need to get the feel of the game and see whether you enjoy it or not before you decide to put offerings for the makers of Gielinor. However, if you seem to like it here or if you are an adventurer returning from your long retirement and interacting with this world through that device they call “mobile phone” or “a tablet”, a trendy device which youth will abandon in a year or two, if you ask me, and know what awaits you in your path to glory in Gielinor, I strongly recommend you get a membership. This way you will lift the invisible walls that stand between you and so many exciting adventures, from which you will learn so much things, that you will feel like a completely new person. There is no need for you to butcher all those innocent animals if you already know what you wish to do with your time in Gielinor. Gods, I have even prepared this pay to play leveling beginner’s guide for you in case you decide to get a membership from your day one. There are three ways to acquire this privilege: you can pay with that money of yours from Earth, you can buy these new things called bonds with the wealth you amassed in Gielinor or you can arrange a deal with the friendly fellows here and get some RuneScape 3 or OSRS gold for a fraction of a cost! And if you have never been on Gielinor before and wish to try the game out, you can always start with simple quests given by various folk around here and/or take a look at other choices and decide what’s best for you.

Both Old School RuneScape (left) and RuneScape 3 have the option to pay for membership with in-game acquired wealth

Botting

I’ve heard stories of some hypnotizing spell which forces people here to do various things: some simply walk around while others are hard at work day and night or fight against monsters which are so plenty in Gielinor. Important thing to remember is this: if you are not one of those magicians who can inhabit multiple bodies and wish to focus only on that special one, it is recommended by many wise sages to avoid these bots, else you can be banished from the land with no chance to return. I have a scroll about botting if you’re interested to learn more, two actually, so there’s no need for me to take up your time unnecessarily as you can look those up if you wish to.

Questing

Often new adventurers are so excited that they sometimes forget that there are people around who need help! I saw many an adventurer beginning their journey butchering cows and slaying goblins with such an ease, they don’t even take a single hit. And of course that is a statement that they’re on a good path, but also that they are not pushing themselves enough. Why not ask a chef about his problems with Duke’s birthday party? Or show those dark wizards by south Varrock gate that their mischievous attacks on newcomers will not be tolerated any longer? Why not thwart those wizards’ plans to summon a powerful demon that would wreak havoc upon this world? All these folk in need of your helping hand will not only thank you, but they will also reward you! I must say that some of these rewards are extremely valuable and sometimes people will return you the favor by allowing you to access an area that otherwise would be outside your reach or use their tools and equipment so you can craft more efficiently. Always consider doing quests.

Overpowered Item You Wish You had Back in the Day

Today we're looking back at one of the episodes that made history in RuneScape, back in the day when it was still a fresh experience.

Today we're looking back at one of the episodes that made history in RuneScape, back in the day when it was still a fresh experience.

Overpowered Item You Wish You had Back in the Day

Our today‘s blog post is rather different from what you can usually find here. We‘re going to talk about a specific item which back in the day was as overpowered as it was hard to get. It cost a ridiculous amount of OSRS gold and was the most sought-after item for quite some time. Today we’re going on a journey back in time and see what Dragon Chainbody used to be way back then.

Dragon Chainbody was released back in 7th September 2004 and requires players to have level 60 defense to equip it. It was a third piece of armor added into the game and you can imagine it was quite sensational back then. In order to have a chance to get your hands on this item players needed to slay the Kalphite Queen – the first boss to be added into the game in the form of an update. And you read that correct: have a chance, and a slight one at that, because Kalphite Queen did not mess around back in the day and players needed good preparation and cooperation to take the deadly beetle out. The difficulty of the task combined with the rarity of Dragon Chainbody drop meant that only the strongest, most determined and, let’s be honest, the luckiest players were able to get this piece of armor. Besides that Kalphite Queen’s drop was absolute garbage compared to how difficult it was to slay her and if you didn’t get Dragon Chainbody drop, other items did not really matter nor helped you on your next boss run.

Combine all these factors and guess what you get? An item that’s around 40m on average and remained at around 20m until it was still the best item in slot, which meant it was like that up until Barrows items and granite body were released. It was the best item for quite some time, however, a shame that you didn’t have any tough bosses around to actually test its durability, so people would just go and kill some demons or fire giants wearing the armor. Since then, Dragon Chainbody was nerfed a bit and then forgotten when new items came out and Kalphite Queen boss’s loot was also made better and the drop chance of Dragon Chainbody was increased.

Simple, yet fine looking design is that still keeps this item on the market

A real blast from the past, the Dragon Chainbody now pales in comparison to other items when it comes to its stats. Even though you do not really get bragging rights wearing it anymore, it’s still a really cool looking item and remains a viable choice for fashionscape or when attempting to attract females. Thus it can still be sold for a good price and you can make some real money by selling OSRS gold you got from this item to us.

Best Old School RuneScape Clients

Have been playing Old School RuneScape for years the same way you first started? Maybe you would really like to see more data on-screen and not in your skills tab? Or maybe you need help sifting through the loot? We have something for you – best OSRS clients which you definitely need to try out and maybe you will find what you sought for so long.

Players who have been playing Old School RuneScape for a long time remember the times when you were only able to play the game only in your browser which means you could access it on any computer with internet connection. That and the fact that game was free-to-play made it one of the hits of MMORPG market and put in on par with such legendary titles of the genre as Everquest and Ultima online.

A few years back, however, we’ve been introduced to a game launcher, which meant that you didn’t even need to open your browser anymore in order to play the game (with the exception of downloading and registering the account, of course). The default launcher provides us with basically the same UI and data as did that small window on our browsers. But as people mature as OSRS players they usually find the Jagex’s default launcher somewhat lacking. Players, especially competitive ones, both PvPers and PvMers often feel that they need to handle more data faster. This demand has led to the creation of third-party made game clients. There is a plenty of such clients, all with varying functionalities (not one of them show the price of OSRS gold, unfortunately). In this blog post we’re going to review some of these clients so you could decide which client to try out, if any and why.

IMPORTANT NOTE: OSRS introduced a third party client update, so the only clients you are allowed to use are listed in this article.

OSBuddy

OSBuddy is one of the most popular game clients at the moment and for a good reason. First of all, it’s approved by Jagex, meaning that a) this is completely legit and you don’t have to worry about getting banned for using this third-party client and b) it is safe, unlike some of the clients out there; you do not risk losing your account due to your data being leaked. Still, some users recommend that your account details for OSBuddy are different than those of your actual OSRS account. Frankly, that’s a precaution that should be taken whatever product you use or game you play (e.g. your account details should always be different than those of your email).

Jagex has confirmed that OSBuddy is indeed a legit OSRS client on their Twitter page

Furthermore, OSBuddy comes with a bunch of handy features: you can track your health more easily, XP gained can be shown on your screen without looking at the skill tab. Same goes for XP left until level up: if you’re cooking, for example, an icon shows up which tracks the amount of XP you’ve gained and the amount of XP you need for a level-up. You can also see the names of items dropped on the ground, as well as their value and it’s easier to track such things in general. Another cool feature is especially useful for those who often leave their OSRS account running in the background, whether you’re waiting for a duel or just leaving your account doing some AFK money making – it is a notifier which makes your OSRS icon flash when you’re offered trade or challenged into a duel. The full list of all the features is simply too long for this blog post, so we strongly recommend you check them out at OSBuddy website. Just another important thing to add: OSBuddy is highly customizable, therefore you can easily enable or disable features you feel you do or do not need. It should be noted that a lot of cool features of OSBuddy are behind a paywall – you have to purchase the PRO version to be able to enjoy them. However, you might consider doing so because not only that would unlock a lot of features, but you would also be supporting the developers. Worst case scenario you try out the free version and drop it if you don’t like it, best case scenario: you will be using a game client you love and helping its development too.

RuneLite

RuneLite is another popular OSRS client (do not mistake it with the infamous Runeloader which was reported to be unsafe). Similarly to the previously introduced OSBuddy, RuneLite comes with a bunch of features you can turn on or off. Some of them let you see the combat style you’re using at the moment without checking combat tab, highlights fishing spots, various targets and other similar convenient features. RuneLite developers put a strong emphasis on the client being open source, which means that you can both create your own tailored version of RuneLite or you can also make your own contribution by sharing your piece of code and getting it approved by developers.

One of the features different from other clients and which can hardly be useless to any player is that you can choose the color of an item name lying on the ground. You can do this by categorizing items by their value, meaning that an item worth, let’s say, 10k is shown in white, and an item worth more than 10k is shown in orange. Though experienced players are not know for picking ash just because they’re ignorant of the low value of the item, this feature makes looting a much faster and less tedious process, since you can clearly distinguish items from one another and pick the valuable ones without having to read item name.

Another feature worth taking notice of is that you can reduce game graphics by lowering or completely removing the amount of ground textures i.e. blades of grass, rocks and so on. Most clients usually offer enhanced graphics, like OSRS HD, which can be a really attractive option for players, especially those with beefier hardware. However, if you’re playing on an old computer and/or are running multiple clients and making use of mutiple money making methods at once, you may want to trade those small details in exchange of smoother performance. Nevertheless, it should be mentioned that Jagex does not really support the changing of game graphics.

We’ve mentioned notifier feature before and many clients have it with a varying degree of functionality. RuneLite is an exception in that you can get notified not only when you’re challenged into a duel or offered a trade, but also when you’re done woodcutting, mining, fishing etc. Though similar or even same features exist in other clients as well, RuneLite offers them free of charge while in other cases they’re often monetized.

Cool features don’t end there, however, as there’s also a very nice feature for all those adventurers daring the dank Barrows. This feature shows you which Barrows doors can be opened (marked green) and which cannot be opened (marked grey). Even for everyday Barrows burrowers this is a useful feature.

You can always see the ever expanding list of features on RuneLite website. It cannot be overexpressed how big a deal is that this client is open source. If you’re programmer yourself you can modify the code, share it, but most importantly you can clear yourself of any doubt about the safety of this client.

HDOS

This client is something that everyone in the community has been waiting for. The reason being is that a lot of people appreciate the nice graphics this client provides. It was created by a single guy that has been working on it for years and finally, Runescape has approved it along with the other clients listed in this article.

Like other clients there are some features that help you play, but the main thing is the amazing graphics. You really got to see it to understand how well it was done, so visit their website and try it out!

We hope that you will give at least one of these clients a try and see for yourself if they’re good for you or not. On the one hand, they come with additional features which can prove really useful. On the other hand, some players will always want their playing experienced to be as immersive as possible and they may want a vanilla experience and not infinite sequences of numbers on their screen. Neither of the options is better or worse than the other and everything depends on individual taste.

Five Easiest to get Old School RuneScape Pets

Do you remember the days when you saw someone in full dragon gear and gazed at them with awe and respect? Or maybe you’re still a new player and seeing something like that is still impressing to you? In this blog post we’re not going to talk about gear, though, but a rather different kind of achievement and that is getting yourself a pet. Now, whether you feel the need for companionship or simply wish to acquire a vanity item to gain bragging rights, we have something for you – a list of five pets that are easiest to acquire! Although, it should be mentioned that even these five easiest to get pets are harder to obtain than some achievements and your character might need to get some steroids in form of OSRS gold to be eligible for getting these pets, still, they’re the easiest to get, so here we go.

Pet Number 5: Pet Smoke Devil

Requirements:

Slayer level 93

You will need to kill the smoke devil plenty of times for the pet to be dropped, but if you’re into weird alien-looking abstraction of a pet, this is your boss of choice! Of course, in order to be able to slay it, you will need to be on the smoke devil slayer task. You can also check out youtube guide for this slayer task.

Pet Number 3: Scorpia’s Offspring

Whoever was impressed by the might of the cinematic Scorpion King will surely want to have this pet follow them and instill fear into their enemies. You will need to get to scorpion pit in the northernmost part of the Wilderness, so bring some food and teletabs in case you encounter some angry looking PKer. Or bring weapons and armor and introduce the poor fellow to the silence of the grave. Check out this Scorpia guide if you’re new to this!

Pet Number 2: Pet Chaos Elemental

For this one you can actually choose your target: it’s either Chaos Fanatic or Chaos Elemental. Though Chaos Fanatic has a significantly lower pet droprate, it’s easier to put down than Chaos Elemental. Unless you’ve got some serious gear to show that boss who’s the real boss. Check out how to bring order to chaos with this handy Chaos elemental guide.

Pet Number 1: Chompy Chick

In order to deserve the right to be accompanied by this adorable flightless chick, you will need to kill Chompy Birds. The prerequisite to get this pet is to have completed the elite Western Provinces diary, which will only help you since the chance to acquire the pet is higher the more of Chompy Birds you have slain in succession. Not all of us are green thumbs, so you might need some guidance to deal with chicken.
