Another Easter is upon us and not everything is all sunshine and rainbows! Help the Easter Bunny to save the Easter so that everyone can enjoy some delicious chocolate Easter Eggs this year!

Old School RuneScape 2019 Easter Event Guide

Hello, adventurer! Tired of killing cows for their hides? Or maybe you need to take a break from all those Theatre of Blood runs? If you answered yes, then Old School RuneScape’s developers come to the rescue – no, they’ll not be handing out OSRS gold so you can get that Justiciar armor set. Instead, we have a brand new easter event! Today we are going to tell you what needs to be done so you can receive the reward and not only for this year but also for all previous easter events.

Easter Event Start

To embark on this fun quest you first need to talk to the Easter Bunny north of Falador. You will need to save easter: the Easter Bunny will ask you to help with some egg making machine fuel scarcity problems. To make some new fuel you do not need to be a scientist, you only need three items:

Hosidius milk

Dried cocoa

Special spices

First Easter Event Location: Lumbridge

Use any means necessary to get to the Lumbridge Castle. Once there you will have to talk to the Cook. Remember that Cook in Distress quest? The same cook. This time you need him, not the vice versa. Talk to the Cook. Choose the option “Talk about Easter”. He will give you a riddle which you will have to answer correctly in order to receive the first item: Hosidius milk.

There are four riddles in total:

“I am round, yet not a perfect sphere. I can be cracked and not have anything inside. What am I?”

The answer is the Easter Egg.

“Filling me with eggs is bad… but I’ll make a case for it.”

The answer to this one is Basket.

“I leave my home only once a year, but do not give any Christmas cheer. Who am I?”

Answer with “Easter Bunny”

“When dark and bitter, drink me warm in the winter.”

Choose “Chocolate”

You will only need to answer one riddle but you might get any of the four, so be prepared. Answer the riddle correctly and the Cook will reward you with a bottle of Hosidius milk.

Second Easter Event Location: Shantay Pass

Next item on the list is dried cocoa. You will get dried cocoa from the travelling merchant in Shantay Pass. Make your trip there shorter with a ring of dueling. Use it to teleport to the duel arena and head straight south. Speak with the travelling merchant. He will ask you to bring him a crate of baskets from the shopkeeper in the Al-Kharid General Store. Talk to the shop assistant there and ask about Easter. Don’t worry, that’s just a quick run a bit north and back. Once you bring the travelling merchant at Shantay Pass his goods, he’ll give you dried cocoa.

Third Easter Event Location: Draynor Village

The last item on the list is special spices. You will receive special spices from Martin the Master Gardener in Draynor Village. To get there quickly use an Amulet of Glory. Speak with the Master Gardener. Choose the “Talk about Easter” option once again. A question will pop up “What did the Easter Bunny tell you to say to Martin?”. The correct answer is obviously “Special spices”. You will need to make fine red silk. The Master Gardener will give you fine silk and you will find a tomato on a table near Aggie. Run to Aggie, take the tomato and then talk to her. Choose the “Ask about dyeing Martin’s silk” option. Aggie will dye fine silk red. Bring fine red silk to Martin the Gardener, “Talk about Easter” and that’s it! You now have all three ingredients needed by the Easter Bunny. Take hosidius milk, dried cocoa and fine red silk to the Easter Bunny.

Chocolate Mixture

Handing over the ingredients to the Easter Bunny is not all! His machine broke done and he needs someone to mix the ingredients for him. Good thing a master mixologist is nearby. Take the chocolate mixture given to you by the Easter Bunny to Party Pete. You will find him in the Falador Party Room. He will mix the bottle and make choco serum. Get choco serum to the Easter Bunny and you will have saved the Easter!

March 21st Update and XP Glitch

New update brings something... new. Some things good, some things bad, check it out to see for yourself!

New update brings something... new. Some things good, some things bad, check it out to see for yourself!

March 21st Update and XP Glitch

Greetings, fellow RuneScape addicts! In this blog post we will briefly review the March 21st update and the upcoming Deadman 2019 spring finals. Oh, and also yet another bug. You must have a few bumps along the road to make the ride more enjoyable, don’t you?

Deadman Spring Finals

Here we are again with another Deadman season approaching its zenith. The finals will take place from 23rd to 30th March, so make sure to take out some sick days from your job, if you’re a participant and to get some popcorn and enjoy the show in case you’re a spectator and root for your favorite scaper!

The wind of change on 21st March also brings something for the upcoming Deadman Summer season: Barrows will be accessible sooner and bounty hunter shop will receive additional items. Revenants, Barrows, Godwars Bosses and Wilderness Bosses will also drop double the amount of uniqe loot during the Deadman Summer season.

XP Gain Bug

Remember the last time there was a bug? Of course you do, it wasn’t so long ago. This time it appears that with February 21st update there was a bug that gave XP. Now, at first it might seem like a feature rather than a bug: who wouldn’t wish to receive extra XP for the same amount of time spent? Well, that is a huge negative for pures. These guys make their special accounts to lead a certain playstyle and now their playstyle got jeopardized. Apparently, some weapons registered as being used in wrong combat style, hence, for example, strength pures received unwanted attack XP etc. If you were affected by this, check the info about the bug in more detail on OSRS page and post your issue on the forums.

You weren’t affected by this bug, but have too much of something? Maybe that something is gold? If so, you can sell your rs gold at the best price here!

Hosidius Rework

Old School RuneScape will be receiving a new update IF you want it to happen. Make sure to see what is in the store and cast your vote in the polls!

Old School RuneScape will be receiving a new update IF you want it to happen. Make sure to see what is in the store and cast your vote in the polls!

Hosidius Rework

As OldSchool RuneScape was launched it has receveid a ton of updates. Today we’re going to take a quick look at one of major updates to the game: the rework of Hosidius House.

New Tithe Farm

Tithe farm will work the same way it always has, do not worry. The only things that will be changing are the farm’s location and the amount of farmable patches. The amount of farmable land patches will be reduced to 8. This is due to the fact that players cannot make use of all patches there currently are in the tithe farm and hence they are redundant. This allows game developers to move the tithe farm from the center of Hosidius House and put it somewhere a bit more remote: just like it should be. Do not worry about the logistics, we’ll cover it next.

Hosidius House Layuout

The new Hosidius House layout makes the town look more like an actual medieval town with the farm on the outskirts and all the main buildings in the center in addition to making it more compact. Even though the farm might seem a bit further, the time to move through the town will actually be reduced, because you will be able to get from A to B taking a somewhat straighter route. At first glance saltpetre diggers might be a bit upset, because the bank will be moved a little further than it used to be. However, to counter this, saltpetre deposits will be closer to each other and thus the relocation will not impact the amount of time you spend on your runs.

Hosidius House planned rework

In addition to these updates there will also be cosmetic changes made to Hosidius House and the surrounding area. You can read about the update in more detail on official OSRS page. Make sure to vote in the polls as well, whether you are for or against the changes!

Elite Dungeons 3 Guide: Shadow Reef

Elite Dungeons 3: Shadow Reef is finally here! Learn what there is to learn about the dungeon and vanquish evil from the depths once and for all! Or at least a new watery dungeon is made.

Elite Dungeons 3: Shadow Reef is finally here! Learn what there is to learn about the dungeon and vanquish evil from the depths once and for all! Or at least a new watery dungeon is made.

Elite Dungeons 3: Shadow Reef Guide

At last the long-awaited conclusion to the trio of Elite Dungeons, the Shadow Reef. A third installment of this new feature, previous two being the Temple of Aminishi  and the Dragonkin Laboratory. If you haven’t played those, grab some RuneScape gold and gear up to face the challenges! You can enter each of the dungeons without previously completing any of them, but if you are a lore freak or wish to overcome every challenge that’s thrown at you, you will want to complete them all. In this blog post we will be reviewing the third Elite Dungeon: what challenges lie in the depths of the Shadow Reef and how to tackle them.

Entering the Shadow Reef

The first part of the dungeon is essentially a warm up and is pretty simple: you run and kill everything in your path. There are no powerful enemies to defeat, no super cool loot to collect. The only ones you have to watch out for are Crassian scouts – they deal a lot of damage if you do not respect their presence, so please do and eliminate them at the moment you spot them. Same goes for the necromancers you will meet in your way. The miniboss Bossy McBossFace is also pretty easy to deal with: only thing to remember is to kill the adds he spawns quickly so that you do not make this encounter harder than it has to be.

Bossy McBossFace awaits fresh meat

Bossy McBossFace awaits fresh meat

Shadow Reef: Crassian Leviathan

Crassian Leviathan is the first boss you will encounter in this dungeon. The encounter itself is simple enough, just remember not to stay in front of it or you will be dead. Or almost dead. Crassian Leviathan will spit green goo at you which is basically a one-shot so you should get to the either side of the boss. Now being on the side will save you from the green fire goo thing and also melee attacks, you will still need to pay attention to the fight. Crassian Leviathan will lunge out of its hole and will drag its head across the area. This attack will also one-shot you and you will need to react fast and surge to the other side quickly. The boss chooses the side it will attack randomly, but you can see which side it chose from the animation and this will give you some time to react.

Crassian Leviathan encounter is pretty simple if you stay out of the middle and react once it begins it’s head dragging attack. Once you defeat the boss, head through the hole in the ship the boss was in and move on forward.

This eel on steroids will not electrocute you, instead it will use it's weight to turn you into a pancake

This eel on steroids will not electrocute you, instead it will use it’s weight to turn you into a pancake

After defeating Crassian Leviathan just follow the path. If you are in a rush, you can ignore Crassian Warriors and Crassian Scouts. To lift the barriers you need to kill the mobs that are linked to them and these are scuttlers and the zealot. After clear the zombies and the first necromancer in your path together with his adds. Once inside the temple you can either kill the three armored zombies or the two necromancers along the way.

Once you are inside the temple you will need to kill the necromancers guarding the doors and activate artifacts in both rooms. After that, head to the bridge. Using protect or deflect missiles is recommended during this stage as you will be attacked by archers from above the bridge. You will need to kill the necromancer on the other end of the bridge as well as his two sea horror guards. When you are done on the bridge, head west and kill three Enlightened Sotapanna to lift the barrier. You can ignore or kill the mobs on your way to the last barrier. Once you kill the guards you can bank if you need to and it is recommended, because next comes another boss. In case you are not in the rush, however, visit all the rooms and see what they got in store for you!

Getting lost on your dungeon run is more embarrasing than losing to a boss

Getting lost on your dungeon run is more embarrasing than losing to a boss

Shadow Reef: Taraket the Necromancer

Taraket the Necromancer puts up more challenge than the previous boss (duh). Due to him being a necromancer, which means he wields magic, adventurers are recommended to use protection from magic. The damage from his fire balls really adds up since he’s constantly hurling them at the intruders. However, ability to set his opponents on fire is not the only trick up his sleeve: Taraket the Necromancer also does what necromancers are well known for doing which is raising the dead. The boss will spawn a rift which will bring forth his undead minions. You should focus on the rift and once you damage it enough the undead will cease to appear.

Taraket the Necromancer relies on his minions as much as on his own magical powers

Taraket the Necromancer relies on his minions as much as on his own magical powers

The next aide Taraket the Necromancer calls to his aid is called “Bloated monstrosity” and it lives up to that name. This mob does not have special mechanics, but will take some time to take down. His dead meaty body can really take the punishment. At this point Taraket the Necromancer will switch to range mode, so adjust your defensive strategies accordingly.

Bloated and Monstrous and perfect mermaid repellant

Bloated and monstrous and an ideal mermaid repellant

After you deal enough damage the boss will once again change his tactics, getting a heal, becoming invulnerable and spawning another friend for you to play with called “Corpse carrier”. The deal is the same as before: do damage and avoid getting damaged. After the big guy falls hard, focus once again on the boss and the rifts that he will spawn.

Carrying groceries by yourself does miracles

Carrying groceries by yourself does miracles

“I am the master of death” is a phrase you should look out for. Once Taraket utters these words, he will spawn a wall of ghouls which will make your healthbar disappear if you stand in their way. It’s easy to avoid, though, because they are really, really slow. From this point on it’s rinse and repeat.

Getting to the Ambassador

After you defeat Taraket the Necromancer a barrier will lift up and you will be able to proceed. The mobs you will encounter will be the same as the ones you met previously except for Kal’gerion demons. To lift the first barrier you will need to kill Undead Witch and her zombie minions. Then kill the Kal’gerion demon you meet, since other mobs are not linked to the barrier. After that look for two necromancers which are linked to another barrier and then kill the remaining necromancers and jump into the abyss.

In the abyss you will need to kill all enemies near the barrier. Stay close to the wall to avoid aggroing minibosses or kill the minibosses before engaging the last boss. You will be able to use bank at this point, so make sure to use this opportunity, if necessary.

Shadow Reef: Kranon the Ambassador

The one and only, Kranon the Ambassador is the last boss of the Shadow Reef and the entirety of Elite Dungeons. Meet the villain responsible for all this mess and also responsible for you getting all that sweet loot and experience. Kranon is the one who corrupted the Acolytes of Seiryu back at the Temple of Aminishi. Kranon is the one responsible for the events at the Dragonkin Laboratory. So if you feel anger for all the pain those creatures suffered, direct it at Kranon the Ambassador.

The first mechanic you will encounter is Kranon marking a single person in the team. Later, a loading bar will appear over the player and once it reaches zero the all too familiar purple smoke will spawn at the player’s location. Run away before you suffocate.

The second mechanic is unstable rifts. Use your stun ability on a rift to close it. If left unchecked, the rift can deal excessive damage.

Show this sinister shrimp what polluting the oceans gets you

For his third move, Kranon the Ambassador unleashes blue rays of death. There are three of them and they split the whole room into three parts. The rays will move counter-clockwise and will deal high damage. Staying in the gaps between the rays is safe. While you’re running counter-clockwise from beams of death, you will need to destroy sinister fragments. Any sinister fragments you fail to destroy will be used by the boss against you. Kranon the Ambassador will take these fragments and then detonate them dealing damage in proportion to fragments used. While a single fragment can be ignored, leaving more can kill all players in the party. This mechanic can be avoided if you deal enough damage after the second phase.

If you manage to deal enough damage, Seiryu the Azure Serpent will appear. Yes, the same Seiryu you fought against and then saved back in the Temple of Aminishi. Seiryu will not only heal all the players, but will also kill any adds that Kranon the Ambassador spawned. A ring of deathly arms will reach out from the ground at this point. They cannot be interacted with and will periodically heal Kranon. At this point Kranon will rotate previously mentioned mechanics and will add a new one to his arsenal where he calls out a player’s name: once this happens, the player in question will receive a lot of damage and should use protect from magic or some other defensive ability to prevent this from ruining their day.

And that’s it: finish off the evil ambassador and collect your rewards, which we hope you will get plenty of and will maybe decide to cash in your profits by selling gold.

February 28th Old School RuneScape Drama

February 28th Old School RuneScape Drama

Good whatever the time of day you’re reading this at! Recently there was major commotion in OSRS community and there are tons of memes already made about it. The only thing we’re waiting now for OSRS wiki to update it’s “rollback” page. If you already know what we’re talking about, make sure you check out our RuneScape gold stack and for those who haven’t heard the news or are looking at this in 2030 as a part of research for their thesis on “RuneScape Crashes and Their Effects on Human Psyche”, please stay with us to learn more.

Chambers of Xeric

Chambers of Xeric received yet another update. This time woodcutters are getting a treat in the form of additional wood gained from trees in the Ice Demon Room. Don’t be overjoyed, though, since the XP rate is also reduced, albeit only slightly. However, the main focus is on the Ice Demon itself, whose defenses were reduced. This is one of the many updates for Chambers of Xeric and this is actually the last one. You can check out our previous blog post on this topic to look at the changes already made. For more specific details on Ice Demon Room don’t hesitate to visit official update blog.

The Twisted Bow Bug

Those of you who have logged in during the last day of winter probably already know this. For those who haven’t: there was a serious game breaking bug in the game just after the February 28th update was released. Game breaking not in terms of breaking the game itself, game breaking in terms of economy and making anyone who have claimed the one and only Twisted Bow fair and square a little less proud of their achievement. Well, probably a lot less proud, but that was just for a short period of time. The bug itself was that Twisted Bows started spawning near the Farming guild in Kebos Lowlands. Anyone with access to the area could just walk up to it and take it. This is one of many bugs involving item spawns and one of the few that required a rollback. In case you don’t know what a rollback is it’s basically rolling back the game time to the nearest safe save, meaning everything you’ve done during the period from that save point to reset point is lost. Jagex team did a really good job tackling this issue: they reacted fast, came up with a solution fast and they were also fast to rollback the game. The process initially was stated to last 4-6 hours, however they got it done in less than a couple of hours, which must have been really good news for those OSRS addicts out there. Rollbacks are usually the last resort for Jagex, but the last time a rollback option was used was actually not so long ago. If you’re interested check our blog post  about it as well.

Jagex teaching life lessons - today's topic: inflation

Jagex teaching life lessons – today’s topic: inflation

Hardcore ironmen were put into a unique position due to the rollback. Those who were unfortunate enough to die to a chicken or another evil creature lost their hardcore status, but just on paper. By paper we mean the ranking system. That’s because JMods have rerolled their hardcore status in game, but the rankings are registered separately and these hardcore ironmen now compete with casual ironmen on the same ladder. We’ll be looking forward to what this unique status of theirs does to the OSRS black market, because people are always after some unique accounts.

That’s it for today, folks. For those who are reading this after the fact: be glad that you didn’t pick a Twisted Bow. Really. People who have, were banned, with their bans now being reverted to temporary bans, but still, it can be a significant inconvenience.

Double XP Weekends

Double XP weekends - hate them, love them, but they are here so make best of them. Or are they? Double XP weekends is a common event in RuneScape, but what about Old School RuneScape? Will they be introduced eventually or is Jagex taking OSRS a different path? Let's find it out in today's blog post!

Double XP weekends - hate them, love them, but they are here so make best of them. Or are they? Double XP weekends is a common event in RuneScape, but what about Old School RuneScape? Will they be introduced eventually or is Jagex taking OSRS a different path? Let's find it out in today's blog post!

Double XP Weekends

Greetings, adventurer! Thanks for stopping by. Today’s blog post will be about double XP weekends and why do we not have any in Old School RuneScape. If you are strictly a RuneScape 3 player, please, use this opportunity to grab some RuneScape gold so that you are well prepared for this double XP weekend to make sure you make the best of it! As for a strictly OSRS player, stay with us while we discuss the pros and cons of double XP weekends and why we think they are not coming to OSRS.

Double XP Weekend Start

The double XP weekends first started not with double XP event, but rather bonus XP event, back in 2010. The way it worked was that a player would log in during the event and gain bonus XP which scaled in reverse with the time they spent playing the game: the longer you stay logged in, the less XP you receive for any action made in-game.

Until the first bonus XP weekend, the community was not sure that such a thing would even happen and there were a lot of debates whether it should be implemented or not. However, since the first bonus XP weekend was launched, it set a precedent and with a consequent bonus XP weekend, it was clear that this event is going to be more or less regular and held during various holidays, such as Christmas. With time, bonus XP weekends gave way to double XP weekends, the first event launching in 2012.

Double XP Weekends and the Community

Double XP weekends disturbed the somewhat still waters of the RuneScape community. Some were in favor of them, while others were strictly against it, both sides having their reasons.

Those in favor of double XP weekends stated that it was rewarding for players who could not spend much time playing RuneScape, especially during the week. These were mostly those players, who would already log in mostly during weekends, due to them having various real life responsibilities.

Looking at the wider picture it was also obvious that such event brought a lot of people online. It must also be mentioned that a membership was required to participate and this brought in additional revenue to Jagex’s coffers, meaning that it was good for the company and therefore, the player, who could then expect more resources to be put into game development.

On the other side there were people who were strictly against it for couple reasons.

First, this was obviously undermining the already hard-earned achievements, especially of those who were in the competitive skilling community. Try walking in their shoes: they have spent a lot of time and runescape gold to earn their ranking, earn their skillcape. This was something to be proud of and with double XP weekends players who invested a lot less effort were able to claim the same sweet prize. This argument, however, was weakened by the fact that when double XP weekends launched, microtransactions were already introduced into the game. And as any RuneScape 3 player knows, microtransactions provide a ton of bonuses to XP, not only cosmetics.

Squeal of Fortune definitely changed game experience, for better or for worse

Squeal of Fortune definitely changed game experience, for better or for worse

Second. double XP weekends really messed up game’s economy. Really, really badly. Nevermind the inflation which can be clearly seen in RuneScape 3 currently. Inflation in the game can actually be a good thing: new players can get firm footing way easier and you can say that it even makes items in NPC shops cheaper (not directly, of course). That’s why some money making methods that work in OSRS, don’t work in RuneScape 3.

The worst to the game’s economy was the constant crash of item prices and rise of material prices for skilling, since players would buy materials in bulk so that they can later use them during the double XP weekend for maximum effect. This had a hugely destabilizing effect and forced players to do things they would not do otherwise, such as selling their gear before the double XP weekend and then later repurchasing it, just so that they avoid losing bank value. In addition to that, a new caste of RuneScape player emerged: a merchant who would abuse this situation by speculating.

Double XP Weekends in OldSchool RuneScape

OldSchool RuneScape’s launch was welcome by many verteran players, especially those who were dissatisfied with the current state of affairs. A significant part of the community started leaving RuneScape due to microtransactions and the very double XP weekends we discuss today. With numbers of people online plummeting and private OSRS servers on the rise (and making quite a profit), Jagex saw and took the opportunity and introduced OldSchool RuneScape, also known as 2007 Scape, since it was the 2007 version of the game. Initially, it only had maintenance updates, but due to the influx of players and increasing popularity, Jagex started actually updating the game and implemented a unique polling feature. Players could now vote for updates they want and vote against updates they disapprove of. The feature itself, although mostly positive, is a somewhat of a double-edged sword: Jagex sometimes creates parts of content only for the suggested update to be rejected by the community, case in point, Sailing. But let’s get back to today’s topic.

Since Jagex is faithful to the community by listening to it through polls, here are basic reasons why double XP weekends will never be introduced to OSRS:

First, OSRS is a sort of a refuge for players who enjoy RuneScape, but quit because of various changes, which can be argued for or against.

Second, with the introduction of microtransactions, competitive skilling in RuneScape was basically non-existant. Therefore, double XP weekends already were a non-issue.

Third, keeping in mind the above, it can be speculated that in case such feature were to be considered for OSRS by Jagex, it will be polled and we can all see how that poll would go.

Jagex not about to start holding double XP weekends in OSRS

Jagex not about to start holding double XP weekends in OSRS

To summarize, it is clear that double XP weekends will not be introduced, not in the way that undermines competitive skilling or the voice of the players. Jagex also repeatedly stated that they are not going to implement them in the near future, nor is it in their plans to do so. And if you see a double XP weekend being advertised somewhere, please, do yourself a service and do NOT click on that. That’s an outright scam and no one wishes to lose the account they cherish so much. And in case you have done so before reading this post and by some miracle weren’t hacked yet – go and change your password. NOW!

OSRS Uptade: February 14th

February 14th sees the romantic updates to the game, such as sacrificing your enemies on the dark altar and changes to the Chambers of Xeric

February 14th sees the romantic updates to the game, such as sacrificing your enemies on the dark altar and changes to the Chambers of Xeric

OSRS Uptade: February 14th

Valentine‘s day is always portrayed to be a romantic day, another opportunity to show to our better half how much we cherish them. Some embrace this fact, others point out the commercial interests behind it or outright detest it. No matter which side you’re on, it’s still marked in the calendar as a special occasion. RuneScape also saw its share of Valentine’s Day celebrations, however for couple of years that has not been the case, so you need not worry about lightening your virtual pocket and spending your hard earned RuneScape gold for a present. This year, it seems, Jagex took to a rather opposite direction, actually.

Boss Heads

Nothing better than a trophy to remember your achievements by and get the bragging rights, right? The toughest adventurers deserve the best rewards and that includes boss heads. These dead fierce looking… things are a sight to behold. But what happens when the sweetness of achievement fades? Often these heads just end up gathering dust and the most emotion you show once you see them again amounts to “meh”. Now that has changed.

Once again keeping their ears to the ground, Jagex announced that they’ve heard the pleas of adventurers and undertook the task to answer them. A boss’s head is no longer just a vanity item. Now, the heads you collect can be used to infuse your items and enhance them. One such example is Vorkath’s head, which can be used on the Ranging cape to make it work like Ava’s assembler. Another use is for gaining Prayer XP: for that use the heads you’re bored of on the Dark Altar. You do not need favor with the Arceuus House to do so.

Chambers of Xeric

Chambers of Xeric a.k.a Raids one has been undergoing changes for some time now. Though initially the raid was a huge success it appears that players keep struggling with it. The raid has undergone several changes already and will undergo more and these basically include nerfing the raid and adding minor changes to loot. Such nerfs are reduction of Tekton’s defense by 25% or nerfing Vespula’s encounter. These changes are only a couple of many that have gone live two weeks ago. Today, new ones have also been made.

Tekton will still rock your world, though

Three Features Removed from Old School RuneScape

Old School RuneScape saw a ton of new features added into the game since it's launch: from various quests to such huge content updates as Raids. But this is not always the case - sometimes features actually get removed from the game, instead of being added. This time we're going to take a look at some of them.

Old School RuneScape saw a ton of new features added into the game since it's launch: from various quests to such huge content updates as Raids. But this is not always the case - sometimes features actually get removed from the game, instead of being added. This time we're going to take a look at some of them.

Three Features Removed from Old School RuneScape

Greetings, fellow scapers. Today’s blog post will be somewhat different from the usual posts when we talk about something new, be it a money making method or a content update. Today we’re going to take a look at what was removed during the course of OSRS history (don’t worry, nobody removed all of your OSRS gold from your bank).

Random Events

Yes, we know random events have not been removed as a concept. However, there are events that have been removed, for example the Evil Ent, Exploding Rock, the Rock Golem, the Tree Spirit and many others. These events were dangerous, because they could actually do damage to the player or displace/remove their equipment. I am pretty sure I am speaking for all of us when I say that we are glad these were removed.

Random events that are currently in OSRS have been changed as well: now players can choose whether to dismiss them or take part in them. This usually translates to players dismissing all events but one – Genie (yours truly guilty of that as well).

The reason why these events are there in the first place is that they are directed against bots, hence why they are also called anti-macro events. They range in complexity and that was the intended purpose, to trick the bots into not solving various puzzles and then collecting that data and banning 100% confirmed bots. As you can imagine, it takes more than one such unsolved puzzle to determine that the account is an actual bot, since players do not necessarily solve those puzzles 100% of the time. This is another reason why they were made dismissable – sometimes players would not solve the puzzle not because they didn’t manage to, but simply because they were AFK. Keep in mind the dangerous events that existed and you have a perfect storm: bots eventually got smarter and managed to solve these interactions with variable reliability and all this feature hurt were genuine players who simply went AFK or were distracted. All of this is in the past now and we can only be thankful to game developers for recognizing the issue and listening to the community.

Trading Post

Trading post was a feature that was introduced around a year before the release of the Grand Exchange and got removed once the GE was built in northwestern Varrock. It functioned as an auction house and players could put almost any tradeable item into a trading post in order to sell it. Unlike in the GE, however, players could actually see the names of those selling their items. What’s most interesting about this feature is that you could actually access it via your bank, which was very convenient. Players had access to six item slots and could put an item up for trade for any price they wished. Item sets were also introduced with this feature, which saved a lot of space and still does, since this feature made it into the GE as well.

Sailing

Sailing started off as an April Fools joke, but later was seriously considered to be added into the game. A lot of features were already polished before it was put up on a poll only for players to vote against adding this feature into the game. Sailing was a skill available to free-to-play and was supposed to allow players to build boats and revivify the spirit of Age of Discovery. It was intended for players to build their boats and explore various islands, with higher sailing level supposedly providing better rewards. If it was approved, however, it would have been the first new skill added into OSRS, instead of Warding.

That’s it for today’s post, we hope you have learned something new about the game you love and how it was before you started playing or made you feel nostalgic in case you’re a seasoned veteran of Old School RuneScape. See you next time and we wish you encounter only Genies on your random events!

Christmas is one of the most popular holidays in the whole world and beyond. And by beyond, we mean Gielinor. Snow covers the streets of Lumbridge and the Grand Exchange and everyone seems more joyful than usual. Christmas is a time of miracles and fun and we’re going to look at what fun you can have on Gielinor specifically.

RuneScape Gifts and XP Weekends

Everyone has noticed the addition of the Advent Calendar to RuneScape. So make sure to login every day and claim the present of the day from the Advent Calendar.

Gifts are not the only neat thing we receive. We’re also granted the opportunity to earn more experience during the Winter Weekends as well as other neat bonuses, make sure to check the full list of those so you don’t miss them!

Old School RuneScape Winter Adventure

OSRS players will also get something to do during the festive season. Most of us like snow, except when it’s too much of it and same goes for the inhabitants of Gielinor. Head over to Lumbridge Castle and speak to Duke Horatio, who is worried about the extremely harsh winter hitting Lumbridge! Before you do, you might want to have these items in your inventory:

Spade, knife or shears

A ball of wool

Teleports to Lumbridge and Falador (so you can save Christmas before dinner time)

You will receive neat rewards of which most come in pairs, it is the season of sharing after all. Make sure to check out this 2018 Christmas event guide and help out the people of Lumbridge.

How to Get a RuneScape Membership Cheaper

Hello, fellow scapers! RuneScape is a vast world full of adventures, colorful inhabitants, stories and ore veins on the surface for our convenience. However, this world has some invisible walls that can be lifted and artifacts that can only be wielded by those who have the much sought-after member status. When I was a kid playing RuneScape I remember how hard I tried to convince my mother to pay for this membership: it would’ve made me the coolest kid in class. But she wasn’t persuaded by my promises of my grades getting better and I don’t think that was because she didn’t believe me. There was another thing which, you probably guessed it already, the membership price. If you’re thinking this is a RuneScape gold selling pitch, you’re correct, but let me continue and you’ll see why you should buy RuneScape gold from us.

Cheap RuneScape Gold

Buying and selling in-game currencies is as old as online gaming itself. Which is not that old. The price of that currency, in this case RuneScape gold, depends on many factors. Back in the earliest days it was people farming that gold manually and this practice is still sometimes used and is deemed somewhat fair. This meant that gold prices were high, but gradually getting lower due to inflation. Inflation in a game, similarly to the real world, occurs when the amount of currency is increasing in the market. In games this gold comes from thin air (well, binary code, actually): monsters drop a few coins or items and people with the sole purpose of farming as much of that gold as possible choose the monsters which in total bring the most value or activities, such as classic MMORPG crafts of mining or smithing. These items can then be sold to other players or NPC’s. In the former case it’s a simple example of wealth redistribution and there’s no inflation, in the latter case inflation is created, since there’s new gold coming into game’s economy. You have probably noticed that yourself, as prices of items seem to be ever increasing in RuneScape and Old School RuneScape. Players cannot create this kind of inflation so quickly, but bots can. This in turn reduces the price of gold in relation to real currency and makes it more accessible.

Cheap Bonds

Bonds are a relatively new feature not only in RuneScape, but online games in general. Earlier, if you bought gold, you could only buy some tradeable in-game items. Players who wanted to become members had to pay subscription fee and those who wanted to maintain their membership status had to re-subscribe on a biweekly basis. Now, you pay a monthly subscribtion fee, unless you purchase a bond, which allows you to get a two week membership status if you’re not using it for various in-game bonuses or put it on the GE for that sweet influx of coins.

Bond price in 2018 December

Bond price in 2018 December

At the moment a bond costs around 3m OSRS gold and 25m RS3 gold. A second of basic math and you get 2.3 USD for 1m of OSRS gold and 0.28USD for 1m of RS3 gold. You might want to check out the prices at which we’re currently selling gold, which at the date of writing this is 1.04 USD per 1m OSRS gold and 0.17 USD per 1m of RS3 gold. And that’s not taking into account all the special deals and bulk discounts. You can clearly see that you’d save a lot buying cheap RuneScape gold at our humble shop! Still unconvinced? You say that paying for membership directly is cheaper than purchasing a bond? You are right. But we have something to say as well.

RuneScape membership packages

RuneScape membership packages

Here we can see that the lowest price per month is 8.34 USD. However, buying a membership for the whole year might not be always economical, simply because you might take a vacation or some time to focus on your work or studies. Real life is important as well! But even at 8.34 USD per month, getting the membership is still more expensive than buying gold from us and then buying a bond on the GE: you would pay 4.17 USD for two weeks. If you got a bond by first buying the gold from our site the price for two weeks would be a mere 3.12 USD, or 6.24 USD for one month. This means that you save 24% by buying the gold from us and that’s compared to the cheapest deal. At membership cost of 10 USD you are saving a whopping 36.6%! Now 36.6% is A LOT! If you need even more convincing, we’ll take a look at Premier Club prices, which is the absolute cheapest deal you can get from Jagex.

Old School RuneScape Premier Club deals

Old School RuneScape Premier Club deals

Here you go. With the best deal for the whole year the price of one month’s membership drops to 7.5 USD per month. Still not as good as 6.24 USD. Actually, significantly worse, 16.8% worse to be precise. Prices for membership and Premier Club for both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape are the same, however there are some added bonuses that go with RuneScape’s version of Premier Club. So a quick recap and comparison of all deals:

Prices shown as of 2018 December, which can change, but percentage values change very slightly

with 1 month membership price at 11 USD (one month deal) buying gold from us saves you 43.3% for OSRS and for RS3 62%

with 1 month membership price at 10 USD (three month deal) you save 36.6% OSRS and 57.5% RS3

with 1 month membership price at 8.34 USD (12 month deal) you save 25.2% OSRS and 49% RS3

Premier Club

with 1 month membership price at 9.(3) USD (three month deal) you save 33% for OSRS and 54.3% RS3

with 1 month membership price at 8.3 USD (six month deal) you save 25% OSRS and 48.8% RS3

with 1 month membership price at 7.5 USD (twelve month deal) you save 16.8% OSRS and 43.3% RS3

This is nothing but simple math and you can see that numbers don’t lie – buying gold from EZRSGold is the best way to satisfy your financial RuneScape needs!
